Reward increased to $20,000 in search for escaped inmate from DeSoto County

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The reward now stands at $20,000 for a fugitive on the run from DeSoto County, Mississippi.

 

The DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office said on June 14, 2024, Joshua James Zimmerman escaped from the DeSoto County Courthouse, where he had been scheduled for a hearing.

 

DeSoto County District Attorney Matthew Barton announced on July 2 that the reward has increased up to $20,000, with $10,000 from the Marshals Service and $10,000 from the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office.

“When it comes to this case, we’re not taking our foot off the pedal. The U.S. Marshals, who are experts at tracking down fugitives, have our full support until he’s caught,” said D.A. Barton in a statement. “That’s why we are deploying every resource at our disposal to help them hunt down, apprehend, and bring this violent criminal back to DeSoto County to face the consequences of his actions.”
