District Attorney Announces 12-Count Indictment of Joshua Anderson

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

HERNANDO, MISS – DeSoto County District Attorney Matthew Barton announced today that a Grand Jury has returned a 12-count indictment against Joshua Anderson, including charges of sexual battery, child pornography, and sexual battery by an authority figure. [1]

“Our children deserve a safe environment to grow up in,” said District Attorney Barton. “We will hold accountable those predators who victimize children for their own twisted desires. This indictment serves as a reminder that the safety of our communities must come first, and I commend Detective Boliek for his role in removing this individual from society.”

Anderson is currently serving a 30-year federal prison sentence for similar offenses, prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Parker S. King as part of the Project Safe Childhood initiative.

If convicted on the state charges, Anderson faces a potential sentence of up to 305 years in prison.

The case was investigated by the Southaven Police Department.
